Hydro-Québec Distribution issues a request for proposals involving residual forest biomass cogeneration in the Obedjiwan community

Hydro-Québec Distribution today launched a request for proposals for the purchase of electricity produced by residual forest biomass cogeneration to power the off-grid system in Obedjiwan. The RFP was issued in partnership with the community.

The RFP process involves the following main steps:

  • Pre-bid conference for potential bidders in Québec: 10 a.m. on Nov. 30, 2016
  • Deadline for submitting bids: May 17, 2017 at 4 p.m. (Montréal time)
  • Bid opening: May 18, 2017
  • Announcement of selected project(s): September 19, 2017

In its Strategic Plan 2016–2020, Hydro-Québec announced its intention to progressively convert its off-grid systems to more reliable, cleaner, less costly energy sources that reflect the social context of the communities they serve.
