Claudine Bouchard appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Québec
Montreal, November 3, 2021 –Voters in Maine chose to support an initiative meant to halt the New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) project. Over a third of Maine voters participated in the ballot process, according to this morning’s results.
Hydro-Québec will take the necessary actions to have its rights recognized and ensure the continued construction of the NECEC project, which will make a significant contribution to the fight against climate change.
Over the past three years, the New England Clean Energy Connect’s environmental and economic benefits have been recognized by all state and federal regulatory agencies which issued construction permits following a rigorous and independent process. This powerline is a regional collaborative effort towards the climate challenge that stands before us, and one which remains part of our long-term vision.
