Redressing the Past and Building for the Future: Innu Nation and Hydro-Québec Come to a Reconciliation and Collaboration Agreement
Hydro-Québec reaffirms that the installation of its advanced metering infrastructure will not be accompanied by a change to rates. The next-generation meters allow Hydro-Québec to read customers’ consumption remotely and to bill based on actual consumption.
The company has no plans to apply time-of-use rates as is the case Ontario.
The savings of $300 million associated with the project are exclusively attributable to remote meter reading and to remotely managing disconnection and connection requests when customers move.
