Over $5 billion to boost the involvement of Indigenous communities in major wind power projects
Montreal - Hydro-Québec will be performing major work at the Des Sources substation located in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. To do so, an overnight service interruption is scheduled from Friday, November 21 to Saturday, November 22, from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The outage will affect approximately 64,000 customers in the following municipalities: Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Dorval, L’Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève, Kirkland, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Pointe-Claire and Saint-Laurent.
This work must be completed before winter to ensure the reliability of the power service and to eliminate the risk of failure on an electrical component at the substation. It will help prevent possible longer power outages which would affect a large number of customers during the winter season. These are synchronized operations requiring extensive planning and multiple teams to minimize the length of the interruption.
The outage is scheduled overnight and on the weekend to reduce impacts on customers as much as possible. We regret any inconvenience this work may cause and recognize that there is never a good time to interrupt power. However, to ensure the safety of workers and the public, we must temporarily switch off the local network. The chosen time frame is the best option to allow crews on site to complete the work as quickly as possible while minimizing impacts for our customers.
Affected customers have been contacted by phone through an automated messaging system. We remind our customers of the importance of keeping their phone number up to date in their Customer Space.
Residents are invited to consult our Outage Info site or register their address in our mobile app to stay informed about any planned service interruptions or postponements. You can also contact Customer Service with any questions regarding this planned outage at 1-800-790-2424.
We thank our customers for their understanding and cooperation.
