Another step for CAA-Québec in The Electric Circuit - A first announcement during the EV2012VE Conference

The founding partners of The Electric Circuit–Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec–are pleased to announce that CAA-Québec, already an active participant in The Electric Circuit service offering, will install a public charging station for electric vehicles by the end of the year.

The charging station will be installed at the organization’s head office located at 444, rue Bouvier, in Québec. In addition to its proximity to a CAA-Québec service centre and various business, this charging point is conveniently located near highways 40 (East-West) and 73 (North-South).

"This added involvement in The Electric Circuit is in line with our sustainable mobility objective. It promotes the use of vehicles that more respectful of the environment," said Claude Rousseau, President and Chief Operating Officer of CAA-Québec.

"The involvement of CAA-Québec as a full-fledged member of The Electric Circuit is natural for us," added Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Senior Director – Strategic Planning at Hydro-Québec, speaking on behalf of The Electric Circuit’s founding partners. "This organization has played a key role in The Electric Circuit since the network was launched. We will continue to work together on its development."

The Electric Circuit will also take advantage of this week's EV2012VE Conference on electric mobility in Montréal to make known its diversified service offering and the addition of new partners.


The Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is a major milestone in the rollout of the charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) in Québec. It is pursuing its expansion throughout several Québec regions.

More than ninety 240-volt Electric Circuit stations are already available in parking lots of the AMT, as well as those of many RONA hardware stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert Restaurants in the greater Montréal and Québec areas. Since its launch on March 30, 2012, 16 private and institutional partners have joined The Electric Circuit. More than 150 charging stations will be available in Québec by the end of 2012. After that, it will continue to expand to offer the greatest geographical coverage and serve the largest number of VE drivers in many Québec regions.

While EV owners do most of their recharging at home and at work, drivers can travel worry free, knowing they can top up their batteries on the road if they need to. Electric Circuit users also have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, www.theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
