Mondays with the Débrouillards!

Every Monday in July and August, the Électrium invites you to experiment with the Club des Débrouillards. Each week will feature a new theme. There’s great fun in store for kids and parents alike at scientific workshops on hot air balloons, astronomy and rockets, robotics, architecture and the water cycle. Which will you choose?

The approximately 90-minute workshops will be held four times a day, at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended, as places are limited. Go to www.hydroquebec.com/visit for more information.

All about electric vehicle charging stations Want to learn more about electric vehicles and charging stations? As of June 21, a charging station just like the ones being installed across Québec will be on display at the Électrium so your family can crack the secrets of The Electric Circuit!

A fun way to learn about electricity

Throughout the year, you can take a guided tour of the Électrium’s four zones, which each address an aspect of electricity: how electricity shows up in nature, in physical and magnetic phenomena, and how electricity is generated in Québec.

During your visit, an experienced guide will lead you through interactive modules and put your newly gained knowledge to the test. Touch the Van de Graff generator, a sphere that produces static electricity and makes your hair stand on end, and the plasma ball, which generates tiny lightning bolts. Play a new game to see how your reflexes measure up to your opponent’s and how long it takes your brain to respond to different stimuli.

Some species of fish produce electricity. Did you know that an adult electric eel generates enough electricity to light 48 ten-watt compact fluorescent lightbulbs? Popular with visitors, this intriguing fish is the star of the Électrium.

The Électrium is located in Sainte-Julie, off exit 87 of Highway 30, in the Montérégie region.

In summer, from June 1 to Labor Day, the Électrium is open from Monday to Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
