Press Release
On the Occasion of the Rimouski Auto ShowNew Electric Circuit Public Charging Stations in the Region
The Electric Circuit, which is continuing its expansion in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, has announced the addition of two new public electric vehicle charging stations. There has been one at the Hotel Rimouski, 223, boulevard René-Lepage Est, since last fall. The other, in the Jardins de Métis parking lot, will be in operation when the 2015 season opens on Saturday, May 30.
“We are pleased to contribute to the development of the Electric Circuit by making a charging station available at the Hotel Rimouski for our customers who drive electric vehicles. The installation of this charging station shows our commitment to the environment and to sustainability,” said Gaston Gendreau, the hotel’s general manager.
“We’ve been thinking about adding a station to our site ever since the public charging system was launched. We believe in the principles of sustainability and are constantly applying them in everything we do. As a major attraction on the Gaspé tourist route, we also want to ensure that our visitors can stop to visit and then continue on their way to discover the region with their cars and their spirits fully recharged,” said Alexander Reford, director of the Jardins de Métis.
“We salute the Hotel Rimouski and the Jardins de Métis’ leadership in choosing to offer their customers and visitors a chance to charge their electric cars,” said France Lampron, Hydro-Québec’s Manager – Transportation Electrification, on behalf of the Electric Circuit partners. “Our network is continuing to develop and we’re very pleased to welcome our new partners, who are fully involved in expanding the Electric Circuit in Est-du-Québec.”
In addition to the two new charging stations, there are eight others already operating in the region: two in Rimouski, two in Rivière-du-Loup, two in Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata, one in Trois-Pistoles and one in Amqui.
About the Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative providing the charging infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric cars in Québec, with close to 400 stations, including 8 fast-charge stations, in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, more than 100 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit.
Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned.
