Another city joins the Electric CircuitTerrebonne to offer public charging stations for plug-in electric vehicles

The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with the City of Terrebonne to install four public charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in the coming months.

“The city of Terrebonne is proud to partner with the Electric Circuit under this agreement and will soon install a public charging network in Terrebonne. This is another step forward for our city and our green plan, which aims to develop and promote sustainable development. Electric vehicle users, both residents and visitors, will be able to drive worry-free, knowing they have access to a local charging network. The city of Terrebonne hopes this new network will encourage many more citizens to buy a 'green' vehicle,” stated Terrebonne Mayor Jean-Marc Robitaille.

“The addition of Terrebonne, one of Québec’s 10 largest municipalities, is a great moment for the Electric Circuit. The quality of life of its citizens and environmental concerns are priorities for this city, so we are natural allies,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, General Manager – Strategic Planning at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of the founding partners of the Electric Circuit. “We want to highlight the arrival of this 33rd partner to our public charging network.”

The Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit offers over 150 charging stations (240 V) in parking lots of the AMT, as well as those of many RONA hardware stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch on March 30, 2012, 28 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand, covering more regions of Québec and serving more EV drivers.

While EV owners do most of their charging at home and at work, the public charging network allows drivers to travel worry-free, knowing they can top up their batteries on the road if they need to. Electric Circuit users also have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, www.theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
