Press Release
Partenership with the community Request for proposals for a 6-MW wind farm in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine
Hydro-Québec held an information session today about the launch of a request for proposals to build a wind farm with a capacity of 6 MW in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine. The farm’s generation capacity will be integrated into the off-grid system of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine. The community will be directly involved in the project.
Hydro-Québec Distribution will initiate a series of requests for proposals to meet the needs of off-grid systems. The objective is to reduce the overall cost of electricity generation as well as its environmental footprint.
For the Îles-de-la-Madeleine project, Hydro-Québec will look for a promoter who will develop, build and operate the wind farm, use proven technology, and enter into a 20-year electricity supply contract. Electricity delivery is planned for fall 2018.
The request for proposals is expected to be launched in September 2015. The terms and conditions will be specified at that time.
