The Electric Circuit Charging StationsMcMasterville is working towards a greener environment

The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with the municipality of McMasterville for the first public charging station for electric vehicles (EVs). It will be installed this fall in the new parking lot adjacent to the covered skating rink at Parc Ensoleillé.

Keeping with its environmental initiatives, the municipality of McMasterville is continuing its work with the purchase of a public charging station for electric vehicles. It is one of the first municipalities in the area to offer public charging on its territory.

“We took advantage of work on the skating rink’s parking lot last summer to install four bases for charging stations,” said Mayor Gilles Plante. “Should there be strong demand, we can easily add more stations. We hope this environmental initiative will help incite consumers to purchase electric vehicles.”

“We are delighted with our partnership with the municipality of McMasterville, helping us to roll out the Electric Circuit in the regional county municipality of La Vallée-du-Richelieu,” added Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Hydro-Québec’s Vice-President – Public and Government Affairs, on behalf of the Electric Circuit partners. “Thanks to the municipality, EV drivers who take Route 116 will soon have access to an additional charging point.”

The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit is the largest network of public charging station in Québec with some 200 charging stations (240 V) currently in service in parking lots of the AMT, as well as those of many RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 43 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand in order to offer greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in several regions of Québec.

While EV owners do most of their charging at home and at work, drivers can travel worry-free, knowing they can top up their batteries on the road if they need to. Electric Circuit users also have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
