The city of Boucherville joins the Electric Circuit

The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with the city of Boucherville for the installation of four public charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in the parking lots of the Montarville-Boucher-De La Bruère library and the Francine-Gadbois multipurpose centre this summer.

“It is with great pride that the city of Boucherville becomes a member of the Electric Circuit, installing new charging stations on its territory,” said Jean Martel, mayor of Boucherville. “Since the city's participation in the demonstration project with i-MiEV all-electric vehicles, residents have continued to show a strong interest in the electrification of ground transportation. I’m proud to make charging stations for electric vehicles available to our residents. This initiative will not only encourage a mode of transportation that doesn’t rely on gasoline, but will also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

“After hosting the largest demonstration project of all-electric vehicles under real-world conditions, Boucherville continues its support by joining the Electric Circuit,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of the founding partners of the Electric Circuit. “This partnership will consolidate the city’s avant-garde position in the electrification of ground transportation. It will also allow us to densify our network in an area where citizens have demonstrated their interest in electric vehicles.”

The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit now offers almost 160 charging stations (240 V) in parking lots of the AMT, as well as those of many RONA hardware stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 30 other private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand in order to provide greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in several regions of Québec.

While EV owners do most of their charging at home and at work, drivers can travel worry-free, knowing they can top up their batteries on the road if they need to. Electric Circuit users also have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, www.theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.

About the city of Boucherville
Since 2010, the city of Boucherville has been involved in the demonstration project for i MiEV all-electric vehicles in collaboration with Hydro-Québec and Mitsubishi. Its participation in the Electric Circuit is in line the initiatives it has taken towards greener transportation.
