One of the world’s largest electric vehicle events - The 29th Electric Vehicle Symposium to be held in Montréal

The Québec government, in conjunction with Hydro-Québec, today confirmed that the Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS), one of the world’s largest electric vehicle events, will hold its 29th edition in Montréal, from June 18 to 22, 2016. This announcement, part of the Transportation Electrification Strategy, was made at the 27th edition of the summit, currently taking place in Barcelona.

“Having EVS29 in Montréal confirms Québec’s leadership role with respect to the profound changes affecting the international sustainable transportation industry. The Electric Vehicle Symposium is a leading event in the global electric transportation industry,” said Daniel Breton, Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier for Transportation Electrification.

“Montréal and Québec are an obvious choice, given the concentration and mobilization of key players in electric transportation. Having the Electric Vehicle Symposium in Montreal will facilitate knowledge sharing among the biggest international experts,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec.

The Symposium, organized by the World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA), is held every 12 to 18 months, on alternating continents. The event will be co-presented by the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) and Electric Mobility Canada, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of electric mobility as a sustainable solution to Canada’s emerging energy and environmental issues. The program will include a trade exhibition, technical visits and presentations, and will bring together some 3,000 international experts. As major sponsors of the symposium, Hydro-Québec and the Québec government will be active in the event’s organization. In parallel to the event, various activities will be organized to highlight Québec’s transportation electrification achievements and to attract foreign investment in electric transportation.
