Eight new charging stations for electric vehicles in the Mauricie region - The city of Shawinigan becomes the 100th partner of the Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is pleased to announce that the city of Shawinigan is joining its network of public charging stations, becoming its 100th partner. The city signed an agreement for the installation of eight Electric Circuit charging stations in the coming months. These charging stations will be in addition to the seven currently in service in the Mauricie region.

“The city of Shawinigan was founded on energy with the construction of Québec’s first major hydroelectric generating complex at the beginning of the 20th century. Today, our economic development focusses on energy efficiency. Our territory features the manufacturing plant of AddÉnergie, the official supplier of the Electric Circuit. In the short term, different partners in Shawinigan will offer visitors some twenty charging stations. Our partnership with the Electric Circuit is therefore perfectly in line with our sustainability strategy,” said Michel Angers, mayor of Shawinigan.

On behalf of the founding partners of the Electric Circuit, France Lampron, Director – Transportation Electrification at Hydro-Québec, added, “We are very pleased to welcome the city of Shawinigan to the Electric Circuit. We congratulate the mayor and his team for their support in transportation electrification, specifically with the expansion of the charging network. This significant initiative will encourage a greater number of electric vehicles in this important region for Hydro-Québec.”

Planned location of the eight charging stations in the city of Shawinigan:

• At the corner of 5e Rue and Avenue des Cèdres
• At the arts center
• At the Gilles-Bourassa arena in the Shawinigan-Sud sector
• At the Émile-Bédard arena in the Saint-Georges-de-Champlain sector
• At the Lac-à-la-Tortue library
• At the Saint-Jean-des-Piles community centre
• At the Hélène-Beauséjour library in the Grand-Mère sector
• At the fire station in the Saint-Georges-de-Champlain sector

The Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in providing the charging infrastructure required to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles in Québec, with more than 360 stations, including 8 fast-charge stations, in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 100 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, and the mobile app for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned.

Baie de Maskinongé (2, including 1 fast-charge)
Shawinigan (1)
Trois-Rivières (2, including 1 fast-charge)
Yamachiche (2, including 1 fast-charge)
