About fifty line crews, as well as technical and logistics personnel, are currently en route towards New Hampshire, where more than 170,000 customers are without power. Public Service New Hampshire (PSNH) is the utility that has asked Hydro-Québec to come and lend a hand to its teams due to the winter storm that is currently hitting that region of the United States.

Hydro-Québec accepted the request from its U.S. counterpart to send a total of nearly 120 employees after having assessed the work required for the normal operation of its system. The Hydro-Québec crews will be deployed near the city of Manchester, New Hampshire.

This type of mutual assistance is provided within the framework of the North Atlantic Mutual Assistance Group, of which Hydro-Québec is a member.

The most recent major emergency aid effort in the United States dates back to February 2014, when another winter storm hit the eastern United States, causing an abundance of power outages as well as major damage. Hydro-Québec had sent a total of 50 crews to Long Island, near New York City, and Pottstown, near Philadelphia, to assist with the recovery efforts. At the height of the storm, more than 623,000 customers were without power.
