Renewal of collective agreements: union coalition members accept agreement in principle

Hydro-Québec is pleased to announce that the agreement in principle reached with respect to the early renewal of collective agreements has been ratified by a very large majority of members in the CUPE union coalition. Note that the Syndicat professionnel des ingénieurs d’Hydro-Québec [engineers' union] had already accepted the agreement.

Key elements of the agreement
o Freeze on salaries for 2014 and 2015;
o Implementation of 50/50 sharing of the current service cost of the pension plan;
o Salary increases of 3% in 2016, 2.75% in 2017 and 2.5 % in 2018;
o Elimination of the Régime d'intéressement [incentive plan] in 2014 and partial integration of 4.2% in salary scales, as of January 1, 2015.

The new collective agreements will take effect on January 1, 2014, and end on December 31, 2018, with the exception of CUPE locals 4250 and 9867, whose collective agreements will expire on December 31, 2019.

Hydro-Québec management would like to emphasize the hard work and professionalism of the unions in these negotiations. It also wants to acknowledge the responsible approach taken by its employees and union representatives in opting for the renewal of collective agreements before they were due to expire.

The CUPE union coalition includes:
o Syndicat des employé-e-s de métiers d'Hydro-Québec [trade employees], local 1500;
o Syndicat des employé-e-s de techniques professionnelles et de bureau
d'Hydro-Québec [technical and clerical employees], local 2000;
