Press Release

Hydro-Québec initiates consultations on the upgrading of its main transmission system in the MRC of Pontiac

Hydro-Québec is initiating pre-consultations to discuss the upgrading of its main transmission system with representatives of municipalities, First Nations and regional groups in western Outaouais.

As discussions get underway, stakeholders in the study areas of our new projects will have the opportunity to express their views early in the process and share their plans and regional priorities so we can more adequately take them into account as we develop our projects.

The pre-consultation phase is the first step in a much broader public participation process throughout which Hydro-Québec will remain committed to demonstrating its openness and transparency to local communities.

Stemming directly from our Action Plan 2035, the projects to upgrade the main transmission system aim to meet the growing demand for clean energy in Québec and support the energy transition.

In leading these projects, Hydro-Québec is meeting the commitment it made following the dialogue on its Action Plan to provide our partners with a better view of the status and evolution of the main transmission system. We are beginning to consult the host communities early in the process and will adapt our practices and projects to address their concerns.

Hydro-Québec will share more information on the evolution of its main transmission system at a later date, in spring 2025.
