Results of the most recent call for proposalsAddEnergie and ABB to supply Electric Circuit fast-charge stations

AddEnergie and ABB have won the recent call for proposals to supply 50-kW fast-charge stations to the Electric Circuit, a Hydro-Québec initiative. AddEnergie will start adding stations to the network as of this fall, and ABB, as of early 2019, once technical modifications to align the stations with the Electric Circuit’s computers are complete. The agreement, which currently extends for two years, represents some 300 stations in total. The new stations will kick off the accelerated development of the fast-charge network, following the recent announcement that 1,600 stations will be deployed between now and 2028.

Bids were assessed through a strict protocol comprising a number of criteria, including product robustness, bid price, user-friendliness and after-sales service. All proposed charging stations went through rigorous climate testing at Hydro-Québec’s research institute (IREQ).

About the Electric Circuit

Québec’s largest public charging network, the Electric Circuit is a major initiative designed to provide the charging infrastructure needed to support the adoption of plug-in electric vehicles across the province. At present, the network comprises nearly 1,500 public charging stations (including 120 fast-charge stations) in 16 Québec regions. Over 285 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit since its launch in March 2012. The network now has more than 25,000 members.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone helpline run by CAA-Québec as well as a charging-station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site theelectriccircuit.com and the mobile apps for iOS and Android are updated as new stations are commissioned. The Electric Circuit card also gives users access to the Canada-wide FLO and New Brunswick-based eCharge networks.
