Call for tenders for the purchase of 500 MW of firm capacity and associated energy: Hydro-Québec Distribution selects three bids totaling 500 MW

Hydro-Québec Distribution announces that it has selected three bids from Hydro-Québec Production for a total of 500 MW in response to its call for tenders launched on March 4, 2015, to meet the very high demand during the winter peak.

The contracts will cover a twenty-year period from the commencement date of deliveries, which is set for December 1, 2018, and the associated energy must be available for a minimum of 300 hours. The average price for firm capacity for the selected bids is $106.00/kW per year and the average price for associated energy is 6.0¢/kWh.

Hydro-Québec Distribution will sign the contracts with Hydro-Québec Production in the coming weeks. The contracts will then be submitted to the Régie de l’énergie for approval.

From the beginning of the call for tenders, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton & Cie assisted Hydro-Québec Distribution with the application of the procedure for tendering and the awarding of electricity purchase contracts as well as bid evaluation.
