Call for tenders for the purchase of 450 MW of wind power: Hydro-Québec Distribution received 54 bids totaling 6 627,5 MW

Today marks Hydro-Québec Distribution’s public bid opening for the bids received in response to its A/O 2013-01 call for tenders launched on December 18, 2013, for the purchase of 450 MW of wind power produced in Québec.


Hydro-Québec Distribution received 54 bids totaling 6 627,5MW. The bids must not exceed $0.09/kWh, to which transmission costs must be added. The term of the contracts must be 20 or 25 years, at the bidder’s choice, and the amount of electricity will be spread out as follows:

  • 100 MW by December 1, 2016
  • 350 MW by December 1, 2017


Hydro-Québec Distribution will evaluate the bids and announce which bids have been accepted as soon as possible. Once the contracts are signed, they must be approved by the Régie de l’énergie.


Hydro-Québec Distribution has hired the firm Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton to assist in the tendering process and to act as its official representative.
