The Electric Circuit is pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with the municipality of Sainte-Marcelline-de-Kildare and the inauguration of a first public charging station for electric vehicles. The charging station is located in the parking lot of the maison de la culture on Rue Principale and is now available for drivers of plug-in electric vehicles.

“As the Minister responsible for the Lanaudière region, I would like to highlight the proactive attitude shown by Sainte-Marcelline-de-Kildare. Its decision to join the Electric Circuit demonstrates its commitment to promote electric mobility in the area,” noted Pierre Arcand, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister responsible for the Northern Plan. “Given that Québec benefits from a 99% renewable source of energy, transportation electrification is an effective way to reduce GHG emissions and combat climate change.”

“The installation of a charging station for electric vehicles in our area corresponds perfectly to the municipality’s decision to focus on the environment. It will also help position Sainte-Marcelline among the Québec municipalities that are firmly committed to sustainable development while continuing to promote our area as a choice tourism destination,” stated Mayor Gaétan Morin.

“On behalf of the founding partners of the Electric Circuit, I am delighted to welcome Sainte-Marcelline-de-Kildare to the Electric Circuit,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec. “The commitment of Sainte-Marcelline-de-Kildare’s elected officials demonstrates that joining the Electric Circuit can benefit all Québec municipalities. Not only will this investment enable electric vehicle drivers to discover the town’s attractions while they charge their vehicles, but it will also promote the use of a clean and sustainable mode of transportation in the area.”

There are now ten Electric Circuit charging stations in operation in the greater Lanaudière region.

The Electric Circuit
The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec. It is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit has one fast-charge (400-V) station and over 250 Level 2 (240-V) charging stations in operation in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since it was inaugurated in March 2012, 68 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. The network will continue to expand in order to offer greater geographical coverage and serve the largest number of electric vehicle drivers in many Québec regions.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
