The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are pleased to announce the signing of a partnership agreement with the Palais des congrès de Montréal to install two public charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs). Starting tomorrow, visitors can charge their vehicles at the two service areas in the underground parking garage, accessible via rue Cheneville.

“We have been committed to sustainable development for more than a decade, so we are pleased to offer this new charging service for electric vehicles to our customers and visitors,” said Gaétan Prud’homme, Director of Building Management for the Palais des congrès de Montréal. “Having these two new charging stations installed is perfectly in line with our desire to continue to develop sustainable services while managing our infrastructures in the most environmentally responsible way possible.”

“We are delighted to welcome one of the most renowned convention and exhibition centres in North America,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec. “The Palais des congrès hosts thousands of events every year, including the Montréal International Auto Show. Owners of plug-in electric vehicles now have access to additional charging stations, right downtown.”

The Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit is the largest public charging network in Québec, with close to 250 Level 2 (240-V) charging stations and one fast-charge (400-V) station in operation in parking lots of the AMT, RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 55 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand in order to offer greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in many regions of Québec.

Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, www.theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
