The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are pleased to announce the inauguration of public charging stations for plug-in electric vehicles in the City of Gatineau, the first municipality in the Outaouais to join the extensive public charging system. The parking lot of the Maison du citoyen, located at 25 Laurier Street in Gatineau, is now equipped with two charging stations accessible to all drivers of plug-in vehicles.

“The City of Gatineau is pleased to partner with the Electric Circuit in this project,” noted Gatineau Mayor Marc Bureau. “This initiative reflects the municipal plan of promoting sustainable mobility and reducing greenhouse gases while responding to a growing need. In Gatineau and throughout Québec, there will be more and more electric cars on the road.”

“We are proud to welcome the City of Gatineau to the Electric Circuit and to see that the network is expanding and EV drivers will have access to even more charging stations,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Hydro-Québec’s Vice President – Public and Government Affairs, on behalf of the Electric Circuit partners. We are working actively to reach new partnership agreements to bolster the public charging offer and the Outaouais region certainly presents an interesting development potential.”

About ten Electric Circuit charging stations are already available in the region:

- One charging station at the Fairmont Le Château Montebello Hotel, 392 Notre Dame Street, Montebello
- Five charging stations at the Plateau des Grives shopping centre, 205-219 Du Plateau Blvd., Gatineau
- And five charging stations at the Carrefour du Versant Ouest shopping centre, 1500 Gréber Blvd., Gatineau

The Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit is the largest network of public charging stations in Québec with some 200 charging stations (240 V) currently in service in parking lots of the AMT, as well as those of many RONA stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 46 private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand in order to offer greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in several regions of Québec.

While most electric vehicle charging is done at home and at work, the public charging infrastructure allows EV drivers to travel worry-free, knowing they can top up their batteries on the road if they need to. Electric Circuit users have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned
