The founding partners of the Electric Circuit—Les Rôtisseries St-Hubert, RONA, METRO, the Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and Hydro-Québec—are pleased to announce the inauguration of the charging station in the city of Rivière-Rouge, the first municipality in the Hautes-Laurentides to join the Electric Circuit. The charging station is installed on Rue L’Annonciation Nord, in the parking lot of the Caisse Desjardins de la Rouge, the city’s partner for this project. The charging station is available as of today for all drivers of plug-in electric vehicles.

“City council is proud to offer this service,” said Déborah Bélanger, mayor of Rivière-Rouge. “This measure is in line with the orientations of our city and its Plan Vert (green plan), which aims to reduce the impact of human activities on the environment.”

“Management at the Caisse Desjardins de la Rouge is pleased to announce the installation of one of the first charging stations in the region, in collaboration with the city of Rivière-Rouge and the Electric Circuit,” said Jacinthe Godmer, general manager of the Caisse Desjardins de la Rouge. “We are proud to have this charging station installed in our parking lot, located along a major, readily accessible road. Through this initiative, we are pursuing the mission of our cooperative and are contributing once more to the sustainable development of the community with this simple, practical and safe environmental solution. For the Caisse Desjardins de la Rouge, protecting our region, the environment and our members for future generations is essential for us.”

“We are delighted that a municipality like Rivière-Rouge now offers a charging service for owners of electric vehicles,” said Pierre-Luc Desgagné, Vice President – Public and Government Affairs at Hydro-Québec, on behalf of the founding partners of the Electric Circuit. “With this new charging station, the Electric Circuit is continuing its expansion in the Laurentides region, benefiting all electric vehicles drivers.”

The Electric Circuit

The Electric Circuit is a major initiative in the rollout of charging infrastructure needed to support the arrival of plug-in vehicles in Québec.

The Electric Circuit now offers over 160 charging stations (240 V) in parking lots of the AMT, as well as those of many RONA hardware stores, Metro grocery stores and St-Hubert restaurants throughout Québec. Since its launch in March 2012, 34 other private and institutional partners have joined the Electric Circuit. It will continue to expand in order to provide greater geographical coverage and serve more EV drivers in several regions of Québec.

While EV owners do most of their charging at home and at work, drivers can travel worry-free, knowing they can top up their batteries on the road if they need to. Electric Circuit users also have access to a 24/7 telephone help line run by CAA-Québec, as well as a charging station locator service. The Electric Circuit Web site, www.theelectriccircuit.com, is updated as new stations are installed or commissioned.
