Press Release

Recharge your batteries during March Break: Fun free activities at the Électrium!

This March Break, the Électrium, Hydro-Québec’s electricity interpretation centre, will open its doors to your family. Young explorers can discover the world of science through workshops led by science communicators from Profaqua. A shortened guided tour of the Électrium is also on the program…all free of charge!

Have fun and stimulate your neurons
From March 4 to 10, electricity will share the spotlight at the Électrium! Budding scientists will get to take part in workshops designed especially for them.

Profaqua activity guides will lead children ages 6 and up through experiments and educational games. Each day will feature a new theme: the magician’s secrets, wind and air phenomena, the art of cooking up chemical potions, dry ice snow games, the eye and optical illusions and much more!

A passion for electricity at the Électrium
The Électrium offers guided tours adapted to different visitor groups and several interactive modules so you can learn more about the electric phenomena that surround you. Observe the centre’s electric eel mascot, explore the role of electricity in the human body and find out who in your family has the quickest reflexes!

Van de Graaff generator
The Van de Graff generator, the sphere that makes your hair stands on end.

You’ll discover the nature of electricity and how it’s produced, and learn about electric and magnetic fields. Have a hair-raising time trying the Van de Graaff generator and touch the plasma ball to see it generate tiny lightning bolts!
